TripAdvisor changed its rules!

TripAdvisor will now alert visitors about hotels where cases of sexual assault have been reported. As New York Times reported last week the badges will point out "health, safety and discrimination issues" across all of the website's travel categories.

TripAdvisor added warnings about safety concerns

These badges are only temporary and last for three months. TripAdvisor spokesman Kevin Carter said that if consumers continue to report events, the badge can stay longer. "These badges should be informative, not punitive," he told the newspaper.

The signs will be added or deleted from a "Staff Committee", and TripAdvisor will never remove a company record, regardless of the number of complaints.

The badges first appeared on the listings of three Mexican resorts: Grand Velas Riviera Maya, Iberostar Paraiso Maya and Iberostar Paraiso Lindo.

The badge is red and is shown at the top of the of each resorts TripAdvisor page.
