This tour will show you the best spots to fish—spots that are off the beaten path. We’ll provide the best fishing guides so that this tour is available to everyone, all levels. Whether you are new to fly fishing or want to improve skills you already have, you truly can’t beat fly fishing in Sian Ka’an.

Sian Ka’an

Sian Ka’an was established as a biosphere reserve in 1986. In 1987, Sian Ka’an became a UNESCO World Heritage Property. There are 23 known archaeological sites of Mayan civilization throughout the biosphere. One of these sites is Muyil, a remarkable Mayan ruin that we often take guests to on our tours. The combination of Mayan history and unique biodiversity, makes Sian Ka’an a top destination. At 652,000 hectares (1.3 million acres), Sian Ka’an is the largest protected area in the Mexican Caribbean. It is the largest coastal protected area in Mexico. The Mesoamerican Barrier Reef is the second largest barrier reef in the world at 1300km.

Check out our Sian Ka'an Express tour to explore the reserve in addition to Tulum's Mayan ruins and a relaxing lunch.

Wildlife

By 2015, 379 bird species had been identified in the reserve, as well as 115 mammal species, 90 native bee species, 47 dragonfly species, 74 species of beetles, 276 species of crustaceans, 310 species of mosquitos, and 318 species of butterflies. More than 84 species of coral are found in the barrier reef. The Sian Ka’an biosphere is home to 1,048 species of flora.

You’ll have the chance to witness all kinds of wildlife, but some popular species include manatees, four species of marine turtle, howler and spider monkeys, crocodiles, Jabiru stork, jaguars, pumas, ocelots, pink flamingos, toucans and tapirs.

Sustainable Fly Fishing

Because we’re fly fishing in a national park, we practice “catch and release.” The last thing we want to do is deplete natural resources, and we aim to keep ecological balance. We support the local community by taking our trash back to Playa del Carmen instead of leaving it in the reserve.

Full Day

If you choose our full day tour, you will experience 8 hours of fly fishing and/or spinning on a private boat. We will provide fly fishing gear (fly and spinning reel), cooler with water, and sandwiches. In the van, we’ll provide beverages, water, and beer.

Stay A Night

On this tour, you’ll have 2 full days in Sian Ka’an, including one full day of 8 hours fishing. Fishing gear (fly and spinning reel) is included, along with water and sandwiches. Spend the night in an air-conditioned Cabana at the fisherman village Punta Allen. Beverages, water, and beer are included in the van. If you wish to stay longer, you can combine this tour with our Sian Ka’an Full Day Tour to explore the jungle and Mayan ruins.
